I awoke sunday morning and found that our gerbil, Sheila, was not in the cage. I considered the possibility that she could have died and crawled underneath her bedding. So I ever so carefully moved the bedding out of the way but nope...No Sheila. I didn't understand how a gerbil could vanish into thin air. I wasn't buying it and after a few minutes Alek reminded me that there is a hole in the top of her cage and I did move the wheel closer to one side so it was possible that she could climb out.

"Release the hound!" I immediately put teenie outside and left Goliath in the house to sniff her out. I knew she was here somewhere as long as the mousetraps didn't didn't find her first. A few hours went by and Goliath was no help, he ran around the house being the goofy weird dog that he is. It was around noon that Goliath found her, he started whining like he found a golden bone twice his size. "I think he found Sheila," Alek said. We put both the dogs outside and sure thing, it was Sheila! I was so happy she was ok. we were trying to catch her for twenty minutes and I had her in my hands ten times and every time she found a way to jump out. She really did not want to go back in the cage. She liked running up the frame of the couch and around the entertainment center.

Note to self, make sure the cage is completely enclosed...No Wholes! Or I will suffer the consequences of turning my house upside to find her. Thank goodness it was a lazy sunday!
